Before you start
- Expenses or job costs are already being tracked in Zentive.
What you'll do
Review your costs by date range, category, and job so you can catch margin problems early.
Do this
- 1
Open the expense report for the time period you care about
Start with the current month, a busy week, or the season you want to measure. If the date range is wrong, the numbers will not help much.
- 2
Look for the biggest categories first
Check fuel, materials, dump fees, labor-heavy work, or any category that usually moves your costs. Big spikes are easier to catch before you drill deeper.
- 3
Compare high-cost jobs against what you billed
If one job or route looks expensive, compare it to the revenue for the same period so you can see whether the work was still worth it.
What this report is best for
Use this report to find the jobs, crews, or categories that are chewing up margin, especially during busy weeks when waste is hard to see day to day.
Compare costs and revenue together
Expense reports make the most sense when you compare them to revenue for the same date range instead of looking at costs by themselves.
