Before you start

  • Income and expenses have been recorded for the period you want to review.

What the report tells you

Profit and loss summarizes income minus expenses for the chosen dates. It is most useful when the same accounting basis and date range are used consistently.

Review profit and loss

  1. 1

    Open Profit & Loss

Go to Reports, then Profit & Loss.

  2. 2

    Choose the date range

Start with a completed month, quarter, or year. Compare the same type of period each time.

  3. 3

    Review income

Check whether reported revenue matches the work and payments recorded in Zentive for the period.

  4. 4

    Review expenses

Look for missing categories, unusual spikes, or costs recorded in the wrong period.

  5. 5

Use net profit as a starting point

Investigate the jobs, services, and cost categories behind the total before making a major business decision.
