Before you start

  • Jobs have revenue, employee time, and expenses recorded consistently.

What the report tells you

Job profitability compares recorded revenue with recorded costs. Missing time or expenses can make a job look more profitable than it really was.

Review job margin

  1. 1

    Open Job Profitability

Go to Reports, then Job Profitability.

  2. 2

    Choose completed work

Use a date range with enough completed jobs to compare similar services or crews.

  3. 3

    Start with outliers

Open jobs with negative margin, unusually low margin, or missing cost information.

  4. 4

    Verify the job record

Check invoice revenue, discounts, employee time, materials, subcontractors, and other expenses.

  5. 5

    Turn findings into an action

Adjust estimating, pricing, crew planning, or cost-recording habits only after the underlying job data is confirmed.
